IntelliMouse TrackBall Wheel Does Not Work with Service Pack 3

SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 on your Windows NT-based computer, your Microsoft IntelliMouse TrackBall's wheel may have no effect in programs that support the IntelliMouse TrackBall.

CAUSE

The I8042prt.sys driver included with Service Pack 3 does not include a Plug and Play identifier to recognize the IntelliMouse TrackBall wheel.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
