Using Network Monitor to analyze a network interface on a multiprocessor
computer running Windows NT under heavy stress can result in the following
STOP error message being displayed:
The exact address where the STOP error occurs may vary, the fourth parameter will be in the range of Bhnt.sys. CAUSEUnder certain stress circumstances in a multiprocessor environment, Network Monitors' NDIS-related packet receive handler will leave a data buffer vulnerable to multiple processes. This results in damaged buffer metrics and a buffer overrun. RESOLUTION
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft,
but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to
systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely
affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for
the next Systems Management Server and/or Windows NT service pack that
contains this fix.
