DLC Protocol Stops Transmitting Packets

ID: Q216780

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

DLC may stop transmitting packets while other protocols continue to work properly.

CAUSE

If an error condition is detected that causes a reset of the network adapter card, NDIS does not send a "reset end" indication to the protocol. Without this reset end indication, DLC continues as if an adapter reset is still in progress. The DLC protocol will not send packets until it receives a reset end indication.
