RRAS Server Does Not Send FramedIPAddress in RADIUS Accounting Request Packet

SYMPTOMS

Windows NT Server with Routing and Remote Access Update (an RRAS server), when used as a Radius client, does not send the FramedIPAddress attribute in a RADIUS accounting request packet.


CAUSE

According to RFC 2139, which specifies the Radius Accounting Protocol, the FramedIPAddress attribute is an optional attribute, and may or may not be included in RADIUS accounting request packets.


RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
