STOP 0x0000000A Error Message Caused by Fcascsi.sys Driver

SYMPTOMS

In Windows NT, you may receive the following error message:

STOP 0x0000000A (0x<nnnnnnnn>, 0x00000008, 0x00000000, 0x801db9ed)
where <nnnnnnnn> is a random series of numbers.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Fcascsi.sys file is running on your computer.


RESOLUTION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Create an emergency repair disk. Click Start, click Run, type rdisk /s in the Open box, and then click OK.


  2. Use the Regedt32.exe program to edit the following registry key


  3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CURRENT_CONTROL_SET/SERVICES/FCA_SCSI/PARAMETERS/DEVICE<n>
    where <n> is number from 0 to 4.

    Edit the registry key to contain the following values:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 
    DriverParameter      SCSI 1 32 4 125 64 LPORT 8 128 1 16 4096 0xFFFFFF
                         (REG_SZ)
    MaximumLogicalUnit   0x08 (hex)
    NumberOfRequests     0x40 (hex) 
  4. Quit Regedt32.exe, and then restart your computer.
