Service Pack Appears to Extract Font Files Only

• Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0 SP4
• Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0 SP4
• Microsoft Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition version 4.0 SP4

SYMPTOMS

When you extract one of the following files from the Windows NT Service Pack 4 CD-ROM, or from the Internet, it may appear that the only file extracted are font files:

• Sp4alpha.exe
• Sp4i386.exe
• Sp5alpha.exe
• Sp5i386.exe

CAUSE

This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:

• You are viewing the files over a network connection.
• You used the /X command line switch to extract one of the files listed in the Symptoms section of this article.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
