Process Working Set Trimmed Below Minimum Unnecessarily

SYMPTOMS

When a process remains idle for a few hours on a computer with more than 500 MB of memory, the computer trims the working set of a process below its minimum working set size. If the computer is never stressed or memory starved, then the trimming should not be necessary.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
