File Corruption Saving to NetWare Server with Norton AntiVirus

SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft PowerPoint 97 file may be corrupted when it is saved to a NetWare Directory Services (NDS) server using Microsoft Client Services for NetWare on a Windows NT workstation that is running Norton AntiVirus version 4.x or 5.x.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or the individual software update. For information on obtaining the latest service pack, please go to:

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, clear the Created or Download check box in Norton AntiVirus.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
