Profile Quotas Do Not Respect Excluded Folders

SYMPTOMS

When profile quota management for client computers is enabled and profile folder exclusion is enabled, folders marked for exclusion from user profiles are still counted in the profile quota, leading to inaccurate calculations and possible logoff problems.


CAUSE

Proquota.exe does not check the exclusion list stored in the registry at the following location when making its calculations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ExcludeProfileDirs


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or the individual software update. For information on obtaining the latest service pack, please go to:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
