SYMPTOMSMicrosoft Management Console (MMC) may generate an "Access violation" error message when you are connecting to a remote computer that is running Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). CAUSEThe "Access violation" error message occurs if the computer that is administering the remote server has Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) installed but the remote client does not. RESOLUTIONA supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
