"Stop 0x0000000A" in VGA Driver Using Bookman Old Style Font and Microsoft Excel

SYMPTOMS

When you are using Microsoft Excel and the Bookman Old Style font, you may receive a "STOP 0x0000000A" error message.

Note that this problem may occur with other fonts as well.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the VGA driver attempts to process a glyph with a negative "x" position written to a particular screen position.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
