Memory Leak May Lead to Loss of User Profile

SYMPTOMS

A memory leak could lead to users losing their user profile.


CAUSE

If Windows does not load the current user profile (local or remote) because of a low-memory condition, Windows issues a new default profile, losing the existing profile.


RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
