SYMPTOMSWhen you use System Policy Editor to enable the "Hide drives in My Computer" shell restriction option on a computer running Windows NT 4.0 and you restart the computer after installing Service Pack 4 or Service Pack 5, you may receive the following error message when you attempt to open a folder on the desktop:
RESOLUTIONA supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0
