SYMPTOMS

A computer running Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4) with the TCP/IP protocol installed may experience the following bugcheck:

STOP 0x00000050 (b8722ff8,00000000,00000000,00000000)
NOTE: The first parameter may vary from system to system.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs because an address object is inadvertently freed when the system is under heavy stress.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 service pack that contains this fix.
