SYMPTOMS
If your computer uses the "NoDrives" policy to hide local drives in Windows NT Explorer, but your desktop includes links to folders on hidden local drives to provide limited access to local data, you cannot gain access to these local folders by using their desktop links after upgrading to Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5).
CAUSEThis behavior was introduced in SP5 by the fix documented in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Q219392 System Drive Cannot be Hidden in Windows NT Explorer View RESOLUTIONA supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 service pack
