Non-Administrators Can Modify Profile Locations in Windows NT Registry

SYMPTOMS

When you log on to a Windows NT-based computer with a domain account that does not have administrator privileges, you are able to change the location of the administrator profile in the Windows NT registry to refer to another location.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT 4.0.

This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
