Event 7022: TCP/IP Print Server Not Responding with HP DeskJet 870cxi Printer

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print to a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 870cxi printer, the Event Viewer may record the following event:

Event 7022: The TCP/IP Print Server service hung on starting.
Also, the printer may disappear from the printer list, and when you check services in Control Panel, the Spooler service may have stopped.


CAUSE

The cause of this behavior is unknown.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue:

  1. Uninstall the printer drivers installed from the Hewlett-Packard printer installation disk.


  2. Uninstall the printer from the computer.


  3. Download the Nt4dsk2.exe file from the following Microsoft Web site:


    4. http://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/mslfiles
  4. Reinstall the printer, using the drivers in this file.
