Error Message: The NPP Agent Is Not Installed

SYMPTOMS

When you start the Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 version of Network Monitor and connect to a remote network monitor agent, you may receive the following error message:

The NPP agent is not installed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the NPP agent is the SMS 2.0 network monitor agent.

RESOLUTION

Install this agent on all hosts to which you want to connect remotely using the SMS 2.0 administrative tools.

NOTE: You must install the SMS 2.0 version of the network monitor agent. The SMS 1.2 and Windows NT versions of the network monitor agent are incompatible with the SMS 2.0 administrative tools.
