For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key" Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To resolve this issue, save the Replicator registry key on another domain controller that is on the same domain to a file, and then replace the damaged registry key on your computer with the working registry key:

  1. Save the Replicator registry key on another domain controller to a file:

    1. At the appropriate domain controller, use Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) to locate the following registry key:

    2.
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Replicator
    3. Save the registry key to a file.

    4. Quit Registry Editor.

  2. At your computer, replace the damaged Replicator key:

    1. Use Registry Editor to locate the following registry key:

    2.
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Replicator
    3. Use the Restore command to replace the damaged registry key using the key that you saved to a file.

    4. When the Warning dialog box appears, informing you that a registry key is going to be restored over the currently selected registry key, make sure you select the damaged key before you proceed.

    5. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.
