Problem Installing Cluster Server on System Not Listed on HCL

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install the Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) component of Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition, on a server that is running Windows NT Server 4.0, you may receive error messages or encounter unusual behavior.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the system on which you are trying to install MSCS includes hardware that is not on the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install MSCS only on a system where all the hardware is supported by Microsoft, as defined in the Windows NT 4.0 HCL.
