Some modems have a switch that allows you to control the speaker. If your
modem does not include this feature, it is possible to modify the MODEM.INF
file in the Windows SYSTEM subdirectory to direct the modem to turn the
speaker off during incoming calls.
Steps to Disable the Modem Speaker
ExampleIf the SERIAL.INI file contains the following line
and the MODEM.INF file has the following text
change the Command_Listen setting to:
NOTE: This turns off the speaker when an incoming call is present; however,
the Disable Modem Speaker setting under Options is still a valid selection
for outgoing calls.
