SYMPTOMSWindows 98 does not allow the system to enter a "standby" power state. Instead, the system might enter a "suspend" power state. CAUSEWindows 98 does not support the "standby" power state. If the BIOS requests standby, Windows 98 rejects the standby request and sets the system power state to suspend if suspend is supported. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONAccording to section 4.3.1 of the Advanced Power Management 1.2 specification, event code 1 is for standby requests. Windows 95 attempts to set the system power state to standby when handling this BIOS event request.
