PRB: AppleTalk Does Not Bind to FDDI Cards in Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

AppleTalk protocol does not bind to FDDI network cards. However, it does bind to Ethernet cards. At the same time TCP/IP, IPX, and NetBEUI do bind to FDDI network cards.


CAUSE

AppleTalk will not bind to an adapter that does not have a MediaType keyword in the parameter section of the card.


RESOLUTION

Under Windows NT 4.0, you need to set the MediaType parameter in the INF to 3.(NOTE: In Windows NT 3.51, MediaType is listed as 4 when it should be 3.)
