ID: Q192485

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Win32 Device Driver Kit (DDK) Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

The Windows Power Management Configuration Tools Design Notes and Reference documents the IdleAc and IdleDc power action policy members of the USER_POWER_POLICY structure, which is used by the Power Management Profile Interface (PMPI). Under Windows 98, the functionality documented for the IdleAc and IdleDc members is not implemented.

CAUSE

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in Microsoft Windows 98.

MORE INFORMATION

The Windows Power Management Configuration Tools Design Notes and Reference documents the following functionality for IdleAc and IdleDc:

IdleAc
Action to take on idle-system detection when the system is running on AC power.
IdleDc
Action to take on idle-system detection when the system is running on battery power.
Because this functionality is not implemented under Windows 98, the system can only be configured to stand by after the specified idle period. No other action can be defined for this event.
