BUG: Layered Service Provider That Handles ReadFile & WriteFile

• Microsoft Win32 Device Driver Kit (DDK) for Windows NT, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

Your Layered service provider cannot handle ReadFile and WriteFile.

CAUSE

Winsock on Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 does not convert FileSystem IO calls into WSASend and WSARecv.

RESOLUTION

There are no workarounds.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Winsock2 on Windows 95 converts FileSystem IO calls into WSASend and WSARecv. However on Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 this is not the case.
