SYMPTOMSWhen you install a Windows Driver Model (WDM) audio driver on a Windows 98 Second Edition-based computer, the volume control icon may be missing from the taskbar. CAUSEThis is a known problem with WDM audio drivers installed on Windows 98 Second Edition-based computers. RESOLUTIONUse one of the following resolutions to cause the volume control icon to appear:
-or- STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATIONWhen you install a WDM audio device on a Windows 98-based computer, a New Hardware Found dialog box is displayed and the required driver files are installed. However, although the audio device may function properly, the volume control icon is not present on the taskbar.
