Changing the Eagle NE3200 I/O Port Address

ID: Q104082

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1

SUMMARY

Under Windows NT, you might encounter an error in Event Viewer describing an I/O conflict with the Eagle NE3200 network adapter.

To change the I/O port address for the Eagle NE3200 network adapter under Windows NT, you must move the network adapter to a different adapter slot in the computer.

MORE INFORMATION

You cannot configure I/O port addresses for EISA adapters from the EISA configuration utility, but a variety of other methods are available depending on the adapter manufacturer.

Eagle Technologies has confirmed that they do not currently have software for changing the I/O port address for the NE3200 when installed in an EISA busmastering slot under Windows NT; therefore, to change the I/O port address, you must move the network adapter to a different adapter slot in the computer.

NOTE: Eagle Technologies recommends that you select Edge Triggering as opposed to Level Triggering within the EISA configuration utility when using the NE3200. The product included here is manufactured by Eagle Technologies, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
