SUMMARYWin32s versions 1.1 and later provide a thunking layer for Windows Sockets. A 16-bit Windows Sockets 1.1 package must be installed on the Windows machine. Otherwise, the system will report that WINSOCK.DLL was not found. Windows NT provides a versions 1.0- and 1.1-compliant WOW (Windows on Win32) thunking layer. MORE INFORMATION
There are a number of vendors that sell Windows Sockets packages. Windows
Sockets support is available from Microsoft for LAN Manager version 2.2 for
MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 at no additional cost. Similar support is also being
shipped in "Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows For Workgroups" and the "Microsoft
Network Client."
