SYMPTOMSWhen an SNMP extension agent tries to retrieve performance counters, CPU utilization jumps to 100 percent. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Windows NT version 3.51. MORE INFORMATIONIf an SNMP extension agent tries to retrieve performance counters as in the following example, the CPU utilization is observed to jump to 100 percent and stay there until the SNMP service is stopped.
To see this, use the Performance Monitor tool in the Administrative Tools
program group.
