FIX: WMI NT Event Log Provider Causes WinMgmt to Stop Responding

SYMPTOMS

Registering a permanent consumer for __InstanceCreation of Win32_NTLogEvents causes WinMgmt.exe to stop responding during startup. WinMgmt.exe is the service that loads WMI providers to provide the data requested by clients.

CAUSE

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

RESOLUTION

Download Windows Management Instrumentation 1.10 or greater from the following Web site and follow the install procedures.

This bug was corrected in Windows Management Instrumentation 1.10.
