SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Resource Monitor tool on a computer running Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS), you may notice that the server eventually slows down or stops responding (hangs). You may not notice an immediate drain on resources, but the performance impact could be significant over a long period of time. CAUSEA leak in Resource Monitor's own memory causes it to slowly use up all free memory in the computer in order to keep running. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or
the individual software update. For information on obtaining the
latest service pack, please go to:
-or- http://www.microsoft.com/support/supportnet/overview/overview.asp STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Cluster Server. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6. MORE INFORMATION
Resource Monitor (Resrcmon.exe) is an MSCS component that monitors the health of each resource through callbacks to the resources and communication with MSCS by using Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs). It also provides the polymorphic interface between generic calls and the specific online operation for that resource. http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/ntserverenterprise/ Additional query words:
