BUG: WM_KEYDOWN Contains Extra Scan Code in wParam, in Journal Playback Mode

SYMPTOMS

On Japanese Windows NT 4.0, in Journal playback mode, the wParam field of the WM_KEYDOWN message, which should contain the virtual-key code of the nonsystem key, contains the scan code plus the virtual-key code. On English Windows NT 4.0, wParam contains only the virtual-key code.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
