BUG: ISDN Modem Does Not Work Properly on Windows NT Embedded

ID: Q243999

The information in this article applies to:
  • Windows NT 4.0 Embedded

SYMPTOMS

If you install an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) modem in your Microsoft Windows NT Embedded image to use with Remote Access Service (RAS) or Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), the ISDN modem cannot be selected on the target system.

CAUSE

The Kernel Telephony Service Providers (TSP) component was added to the configuration after Unimodem and/or other TSP components.

RESOLUTION

Add the Kernel TSP component, or the component that includes the Kernel TSP component, to your configuration before loading any other TSP component.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

In Target Designer, the order in which the TSP components are added determines their enumeration order in the target system. The Kernel TSP component should always be the first registered telephony provider. Adding other TSP components before the Kernel TSP component creates a system where telephony does not work.
