PRB: Stop 7B Error when Starting Windows NT Embedded System from SCSI Media

ID: Q247587

The information in this article applies to:
  • Windows NT 4.0 Embedded

SYMPTOMS

Windows NT Embedded may fail to boot on a system with SCSI boot media, displaying the following error:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7413BE0, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
The numbers in parentheses may be different. A similar configuration may boot flawlessly when installed on an IDE system.

CAUSE

The configuration does not contain a vendor-specific SCSI adapter component.

RESOLUTION

Make sure that the correct SCSI adapter component is included in the configuration. You may need to create a component for this driver.

MORE INFORMATION

Even though the EIDE SCSI Adapter is included, a specific SCSI adapter driver may be required to boot on specific hardware.

The Check Dependencies feature in Target Designer does not indicate that the configuration includes a SCSI disk (located at System\Devices\Storage\Fixed Disk\SCSI Disk) but no vendor-specific SCSI adapter.
