SYMPTOMSWhen a COMTI application method is invoked, COMTI displays a message box with the title "mtx.exe - DLL Initialization Failed" and the text: When you click OK, another message box is displayed with the title "Object Creation Failed" and the text: The Windows NT event log contains the following entry:
CAUSEAt run time, Tagen.dll must have access to the Windows NT registry key that identifies the location of a message DLL needed for writing an informative message to the Windows NT event log. However, Tagen.dll attempts to get Write access to the registry key, when only Read access is required. The default user profile does not have that right, only Administrators do. WORKAROUNDMethod 1Start User Manager for domains and assign the Windows NT User (...of the identity under which the Microsoft Transaction Server package component is to execute) to the Windows NT Administrators Group.Method 2WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
