Security Support Provider Interface

Purpose

The Security Support Provider Interface (SSPI) provides the means for networked applications to call one of several security providers to establish authenticated connections and to exchange data securely over those connections.

Where Applicable

The SSPI interface is available both in kernel mode and user mode. SSPI kernel mode functionality requires the Windows IFS kit to provide the necessary files and libraries. The calling model remains the same. Kernel mode considerations are noted on function reference pages.
