Testing the Team Template

Before distributing your team solution template, it is always a good idea to test your solution. It is recommended you test the installation of the template on the server as well as the functionality of the team Web site.
To test your team template
- If you have not already done so, import your team template into the template directory on your server. For details, see Saving a Team Template to a Server.
- In the Team Solutions Manager, select the server in the Server box, and click Refresh.
- Select the Templates tab, and verify the template is included in the list of available templates.
- Select the template, and click the New Solution button. This opens the New Team Solutions wizard.
- Use the wizard to create an instance of the team solution. Designate where you want to install the database and the Web site. For details about creating the team solution, see Creating New Solutions from a Template in the Access Workflow Designer Administrator's Guide.
- Once the team solution is created, verify the database exists in the SQL Server \data folder and the Web site exists on the Web server.
- If the team solution contains offline publications, you use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager Replication Monitor to verify that the publications were initialized properly. It is also recommended that you monitor the performance of your publications after the solution has been created. If users report problems with the publication, the Replication Monitor can help troubleshoot the issues.
- Open the team Web site for the solution from a client computer that has the Access Workflow Designer client components installed. Verify the solution works correctly. For information about client components, see Setting Up the End-User Client Computer.
- To test the permissions you have created, log in using Microsoft Windows NT® accounts that belong to the different database roles used in the team solution. Then, access the Web site, and test the functionality.
- If you have created offline publications, take the solution offline, make changes, and then synchronize your changes.
After determining that the solution installs and works correctly, you can distribute the template file (*.tpl) for use on any server that has Access Workflow Designer server components installed.
For more information about working with templates and solutions on the server, see Managing Team Templates and Managing Team Solutions in the Access Workflow Designer Administrator’s Guide.
