Microsoft Transaction Server

Purpose

Microsoft® Transaction Server (MTS) defines a programming model for developing distributed, component-based applications. It also provides a run-time infrastructure and a user interface for deploying and managing these applications.

Where Applicable

MTS can be used to develop transaction processing systems for developing, deploying, and managing high-performance, scalable, and robust enterprise applications.

Developer Audience

MTS is designed primarily for C++ and Microsoft® Visual Basic® developers.

Run-time Requirements

Runs on Microsoft Windows® 95/98 and Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 operating systems. Requires DTC (Distributed Transaction Coordinator).
