partial update

A partial update can occur while replication is in progress if an application reads an object during a brief interval when some, but not all, of an update has been replicated to the DC from which the application is reading.

primary domain controller (PDC)

A primary domain controller is a computer that runs a Windows NT Server that authenticates logons and maintains the directory database for a Windows NT® 4.0 domain. A PDC is not used in Windows® 2000. Instead, one domain controller is designated as the PDC for backwards compatibility.

property

A provider is a vendor who supplies an implementation of the ADSI objects for a particular namespace.
