Print Clients

Print clients, whether local (on the print server) or remote (on the network) send print jobs to a Windows NT print server. The print server services receive print jobs from remote clients as input/output (IO) requests that must be directed to the appropriate system process.

This chapter focuses on printing locally on the Windows NT Workstation and from Windows NT network clients. But, it also includes information about other network clients.

The following can all be print clients:

Windows print clients receive printer alerts confirming successful prints or indicating errors. If a client doesn't want to receive printer alerts, you can disable them by adding the following entry to the [Network] section of the System.ini file:


SendPrintMessages=no

Note

Disabling WinPopup does not disable printer alerts.
