Microsoft Office 2000 Developer |
The Package and Deployment Wizard makes it easy for you to build and deploy setup programs for your Office 2000 solutions. The wizard guides you through the steps of creating .cab files for your solution, grouping them into a unit, or package, that contains all of the information needed for installation, and delivering those packages to end users. You can deliver the components over the Internet or via a traditional file-based setup. The Package and Deployment Wizard automates much of the work involved in creating and deploying these files, while giving you complete control over the changes to be made to end-user computers, and some control over the interface of the installer program.
Note The VBA Package and Deployment Wizard targets applications that create redistributable solutions. Because FrontPage and Outlook only support projects that are based on user profiles, the Package and Deployment Wizard cannot package or deploy solutions using these products. You can, however, package and deploy stand-alone projects, such as Add-in projects, created in the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) environment from within these applications.
The Package and Deployment Wizard offers three options:
For more information about deploying Office solutions, see Chapter 2, "Designing and Deploying Office Solutions" in the Microsoft Office 2000/Visual Basic Programmer's Guide.
For information about using the Microsoft® Access Run-Time in your applications, see Targeting the Access Run-Time.
