Change the connection to the external data source for a PivotTable list or the query it uses

1. In data access page Design view, activate the PivotTable list.
   
   
2. Click the title bar of the PivotTable list, and then display the PivotTable Property Toolbox.
   
   
3. Click the Data Source bar to display its settings.
   
   
4. Do one of the following:
   • To change the connection information, click the Connection option, then click Connection Editor. In the Connection Editor, click the Provider tab, and then select the OLE DB provider you want to use to retrieve the data. Click the Connection tab, and then provide the connection information for the data you want to use in the PivotTable list. For information about the Data Link Properties dialog box, click the Help button at the bottom of the dialog box.
     
     
   • To use the data from a different record source within the external database, click Data member, and then select the record source you want from the list.
     
     
   • To change the command text, in the Data Sources section in the PivotTable Property Toolbox, click Command text under Use data from, and then enter the query to select the data. For information about the query syntax, see the documentation for the external data source.
