Start Microsoft Access with command-line options from the Windows Start menu

  1. Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar.

  2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Advanced.

  3. Double-click the Programs folder.

  4. Double-click the Microsoft Office folder (or the name of the Programs subfolder where Microsoft Access is installed). If Microsoft Access is not installed in a Start menu subfolder, you can skip this step.

  5. Right-click the Microsoft Access program shortcut icon, click Properties, and then click the Shortcut tab.

  6. Click to the right of the Microsoft Access startup command in the Target box, and then type the desired command-line options.

    For example, the following command line starts Microsoft Access and opens the Northwind sample database for exclusive access.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Samples\Northwind.mdb" /excl
