Start Microsoft Access with command-line options from the Windows Start menu
- Click the Windows Start button, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar.
- Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Advanced.
- Double-click the Programs folder.
- Double-click the Microsoft Office folder (or the name of the Programs subfolder where Microsoft Access is installed). If Microsoft Access is not installed in a Start menu subfolder, you can skip this step.
- Right-click the Microsoft Access program shortcut icon, click Properties, and then click the Shortcut tab.
- Click to the right of the Microsoft Access startup command in the Target box, and then type the desired command-line options.
For example, the following command line starts Microsoft Access and opens the Northwind sample database for exclusive access.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Samples\Northwind.mdb" /excl
