access key

A key combination, such as ALT+F, that moves the focus to a menu, command, or control, without using the mouse. For example, to move the focus to a menu command, press ALT plus the designated character for the menu, and then press the designated character for the command. In contrast, a shortcut key is a function key or a key combination, such as F5 or CTRL+A, that carries out a menu command.
