Microsoft Internet Information Server 3.0 or later supports the use of Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP) files to get data from an ODBC data source and format it as an HTML Web page. The ASP file contains server-side scripts that specify how to connect to the data source, as well as the appropriate HTML tags to format the data once it's returned. An Access form that is saved as an ASP file also contains ActiveX controls and Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) code.
