Server Components of Office Server Extensions

Microsoft Office Server Extensions (OSE) use several components to provide Microsoft Office 2000 users with Web Discussions, Web Subscriptions, and a secure Web publishing environment. These server-based components are:

Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) (Windows NT Server and Windows 2000 Server) or Personal Web Server (Windows NT Workstation and Windows 2000 Professional)

NTFS file system

Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions

Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) or Microsoft SQL Server

Custom Automation objects

Active Server Pages (ASP) pages

OSE Notification Service and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) mail server
