COM programming introduces a lot of new terms and ideas to the developer; fortunately, Microsoft’s extensions to the Java virtual machine—and the tools provided by Visual J++—simplify the creation of COM components. Now that you have a firm understanding of COM, you’re ready to learn how to develop COM classes in Java. In the next chapter, I demonstrate how to take a Java class and convert it to a universal software component.
