MTS and IIS

With the release of IIS4.0 and the Windows NT Option Pack, Microsoft has provided developers with a very powerful and integrated set of services from which to create robust and scalable applications. Two of the services that work very closely together in this new environment are IIS and Microsoft Transaction Server. Microsoft has tightly integrated the functions of IIS and MTS, which makes it very easy to take advantage of transaction processing applications from within traditional web page programming.

There are a number of different examples of the ways that MTS and IIS are closely integrated. These include:

A developer can use one or more of these features in their applications that use both IIS and MTS. Because of their tight integration, the developer has little work to do to fully utilize these services.
