Comparing this Wizard with Our Own

The goal of the Microsoft Scriptlet Wizard and the one we introduced in Chapter 4 are similar. This one supports Server and DHTML Scriptlets at the same time. However, the code generated for DHTML Scriptlets has some redundancies—it includes the

<scriptlet>
tag anyway, which is, instead, the kernel of a Server Scriptlet. When we generate a Server Scriptlet we also get the public_description for free so it can also be used as a DHTML Scriptlet.

Even in terms of options provided they are similar. Our own, however, provides slightly superior support for a few stock properties, but doesn't allow you to specify a prototype for the methods you add.

So, in conclusion, you can choose between two quite similar tools if you need DHTML Scriptlets (there is only one choice for Server Scriptlets). Our suggestion is to consider our wizard if you just need to work with DHTML Scriptlets but to otherwise choose Microsoft's.
