Microsoft has provided Visual Basic programmers with the Internet Transfer control to access remote servers on the Internet. The Internet Transfer control bundles two common Internet protocols: the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP). This control handles all of the grunge work and makes transferring files relatively easy.
Before I go into the details about how the Internet Transfer control works, l would like to take a moment to review the FTP and HTTP protocols. Of course, if you already know how these protocols work and don’t need a refresher, feel free to skip to the next section.
